Is your headshot session coming up soon? To help you feel prepared and confident in front of the camera, I’ve put together a few simple tips to help you look and feel your best.

Choose your outfit
Select an outfit that is comfortable, fits you well and looks good on your shoulders since all the pictures will be taken shoulders up.
Solid colors work best and subtle textures and patterns tend to add visual interest. Leave busy patterns, stripes or clothing with large logos or graphics at home as they would distract from your face. Also avoid neon colors as they reflect light back into your face, which can be unflattering in photos.
Whichever color you’ll be photographed on, avoid wearing that color. If you’ll be photographed on a white background, avoid wearing white outfits that would blend with the background.
Glasses or contacts
If you wear glasses, you may want to consider bringing a clean pair of glasses to your photo session to avoid smudges or reflections in your photos, as they can be quite noticeable. Alternatively, you may want to consider wearing contacts for your photo session, especially if you have trouble with glare or reflections in your glasses. And if you’re unsure which option will photograph best, feel free to bring both. We can try a few shots each way and decide together.
Get a good night’s sleep
Make sure to get plenty of rest the night before your photo session. Being well-rested will help you look refreshed and alert in your photos. It also makes a difference in how relaxed and confident you feel during the shoot, which always shows in the final images.
You’re All Set
By following these simple tips, you’ll be well-prepared for your headshot session and ready to step in front of the camera with confidence. Don’t worry about doing everything perfectly — I’ll be there to guide you through flattering angles, expressions, and anything else you need so you can look your best on camera.
